Senate vote opens door for House gun-control push

With the Senate now debating gun control in earnest, moderate Republican Rep. Peter King and Democratic Rep. Mike Thompson are planning to introduce a House version of the Senate's bill early next week. House GOP leaders, under pressure from pro-gun members of their caucus, refused to agree to schedule a vote; still, reformers said they believed they could win over enough House Republicans to pass the legislation. "When the time comes, if it comes to a vote, there will be significant support among Republicans," King said.
