UN launches program to prevent child deaths

The United Nations is launching a 10-year, $6 billion action program to prevent 2 million children younger than 5 from dying from pneumonia and severe diarrhea, with elimination of such deaths by 2035. The UN plan rightly puts the emphasis on preventative public health, argues Yael Velleman.
