Studies show the link between job satisfaction and compensation is weak. This article takes the concept further and explores the possibility that salaries that are too high might contribute to a lack of motivation. "Quite simply, you're more likely to like your job if you focus on the work itself, and less likely to enjoy it if you're focused on money," writes Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, a professor of business psychology at University College London.
