Kerry-McCain privacy bill eliminates do-not-track

A new bipartisan bill from Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and John McCain, R-Ariz., would provide data-collection rules for online and offline businesses, and passes on a "do-not-track" regime in favor of "robust and clear" opt-outs. One aspect of the bill would move privacy to law enforcement and remove the right of private citizens to sue over alleged violations.
