Analyst says SIP trunking still years away from market dominance

While SIP trunking is gaining market share -- having increased by triple digits last year -- the Internet telephony solution still represents a fraction of the overall trunking market in North America, and it is likely to be years before it challenges T-1 as a dominant solution, experts say. According to Infonetics analyst Diane Myers, Session Initiation Protocol accounts for roughly 10% of the trunking market, and some businesses have been slow to adopt because of concerns about security as well as lowering costs of legacy T-1 lines.
