Comcast takes lead role in residential transition to IPv6

Cable giant Comcast announced it will introduce "dual-stack" services for some customers starting next month, making it the first U.S. Internet provider to deliver IPv6 access to residential end users. Comcast says the next-generation protocol -- which will be supported by six home gateways, using models from D-Link, Linksys and Netgear -- will be rolled out across its entire network by the end of the year.
