CN partnership tests viability of LNG-fueled locomotives

Train engines running on liquefied natural gas? That's the aim of a new research partnership among Canadian National Railway, Wesport Innovations and Gaz Métro Transportation Solutions. With $2.4 million in funding, the partners are working to develop and test a locomotive that could be powered with liquefied natural gas. The fuel is considered cleaner and cheaper than traditional diesel.
