Common core elevates testing anxiety in N.Y. schools:

Students in third- through eighth-grade will this week, for the first time, take exams aligned with the Common Core State Standards -- a shift that some educators and parents in New York say is leading to more anxiety than normally surrounds standardized testing. Test preparations have included pep rallies, breathing exercises and yoga. Fourth- and seventh-grade students are particularly stressed about performance because their scores determine whether they advance to middle and high school.
