Investors underestimate risks of target-date funds, SEC panel says

A committee that advises the Securities and Exchange Commission says investors need better disclosures about the risks of target-date funds. The panel recommends that fund prospectuses clearly state risk assumptions, that marketing materials warn that the funds are not guaranteed and that fee disclosures better explain total costs over the anticipated life of the investment.
