ISPs gear up to push for open access

Independent ISPs are banding together to pressure Congress to force cable companies to open their lines to other access providers. A lawyer for Brand X says if the cable companies win a court case on appeal, the game may be up for independent ISPs. In October, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in Brand X's favor overturning an FCC ruling that said cable companies could keep their lines closed to third-party providers.
