Sour market turns Charleston condos into boutique hotel

With the real estate market in the tank, developers hoping to put 18 high-end condos on the market in Charleston, S.C., for upward of $1.2 million apiece instead plan to turn the condos into a boutique hotel. The project received zoning approval to operate as a hotel last week, and the space set aside as a sales office for the condos will instead be used for the hotel lobby.
