Cap-and-trade rules could alter construction patterns

The cap-and-trade regulations under debate in the U.S. could alter the pattern of construction projects in the country, writes Reed Construction Data Chief Economist Jim Haughey. More people may turn to cleaner natural gas, and that will require more pipelines, according to Haughey, who notes that wind and solar power plants will require new electricity transmission lines.
