ILFC will sell 53 aircraft to Macquarie unit for nearly $2 billion

American International Group's International Lease Finance signed an agreement to sell 53 aircraft to Macquarie Aerospace, the aircraft-leasing unit of Australia's Macquarie Group, for $1.987 billion. The sale, which is worth less than the $2.32 billion net book value of the company's portfolio, will go far in helping the company boost its liquidity and de-lever its balance sheet, said Alan Lund, ILFC's CEO.
