CFATS-extension bill approved by House subcommittee

The House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Security Technologies approved a bill that would extend Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards for seven years. However, the subcommittee rejected three proposed amendments -- to expand coverage to treatment plants for drinking water and wastewater, reviews of chemical-process safety and employee security-assessment input, respectively.
