NRC panel recommends relicensing Wash. nuclear plant

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards recommended approval of Energy Northwest's bid to extend the operating license of its Columbia Generating Station in Washington state. The committee studied the NRC's final safety-evaluation report, which found that the company had met all the safety issues related to the relicensing of the facility. The committee's recommendation is the final step before the NRC gives its decision.
