Prudent eating habits curb health risks in diet soda drinkers

Diet soda drinkers with healthy eating habits were at lower risk of developing metabolic syndrome over 20 years, compared with their counterparts who followed a Western-style diet, a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found. Metabolic syndrome is a condition noted for excess abdominal fat, high blood sugar, increased blood pressure and triglycerides, and low HDL cholesterol.
