The Air Force faces a backlog of maintenance needs on its aging fleet of aircraft, and it expects new demands as the U.S. defense focus tilts toward the Asia-Pacific region -- that's why it wants an 11% increase in budget next year, Air Force Secretary Michael Donley told the House Armed Services Committee last week. Donley warned lawmakers that it would take "two or three years to recover" from sequestration cuts that will put the Air Force maintenance plans in disarray.
