Colo. Senate OKs plan to raise rural electric co-ops' renewables goal

The Colorado Senate voted 18-17 to approve legislation that would direct rural electricity cooperatives to get 25% of their power from renewable sources by 2020, up from the current standard of 10%. Under the measure, the cost of meeting the higher standard should not exceed a 2% rise in utility bills. The measure heads to the state House of Representatives.
