DISH continues wireless push with $25.5B bid for Sprint Nextel

DISH Network has made a $25.5 billion cash-and-stock bid to acquire Sprint Nextel, which has already approved a $20 billion offer from Japanese telecom SoftBank. The latter deal was slated to close this summer, pending regulatory approval. In related news, DISH Chairman Charlie Ergen is said to have approached Deutsche Telekom about the potential of merging with the German company's T-Mobile USA unit. Such deals would give DISH the ability to create satellite TV-wireless phone bundles.
