DISH looks to better SoftBank with $25.5B offer for Sprint

DISH Network on Monday said it would offer $25.5 billion for Sprint Nextel in a deal that "would appear to trump an earlier $20.1 billion agreement by Sprint to combine with Japanese wireless giant SoftBank," writes Mike Farrell. DISH Chairman Charlie Ergen said in a statement that the "proposal clearly presents Sprint shareholders with a superior alternative" that would create "a significantly enhanced strategic position and substantial synergies that are not attainable through the pending SoftBank proposal."
