Intensive insulin does not improve heart parameters in diabetes

Type 1 diabetes patients who had either intensive or conventional insulin therapy did not show differences in cardiac parameters including end diastolic and systolic volumes, stroke volumes and aortic distensibility at 15 years, a study in Diabetes found. Glycemic control as measured by HbA1C, however, appeared to affect cardiac function in patients.
