NYC council speaker wants transit-agency control changed

New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is pushing for city control of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The agency is run by the state, but Quinn says 90% of the 1.8 billion people who use the MTA system every year are in New York City. "And the vast majority of the dollars that fund that system come from the five boroughs -- through fares, tolls and taxes," she said. "But right now, New Yorkers have little say in how that system is run."
