Rep. Graves: Tax reform is necessary for small businesses

Tax code uncertainty, confusing new regulations and a weak economy make filing taxes difficult for small businesses trying to grow their companies, writes Rep. Sam Graves, R-Mo. Graves says small businesses need the kind of comprehensive tax reform discussed at more than 20 House Ways and Means Committee hearings, which included proposals for a permanent option for expensing equipment and property, simplification and expansion of cash accounting for small firms, the creation of a unified deduction for startup expenses and reformed tax codes for pass-through businesses.
