Report: First national EAS test was mostly a success

The first national EAS test, which was held in November 2011, showed the system is "basically sound," with 83% of broadcasters receiving the alert, according to the Federal Communications Commission's Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau. The results probably would have been even better if three of the 63 Primary Entry Point stations had not suffered a failure. The FCC wants to conduct a second national test but will likely defer such an action until it issues rules for examining station equipment and retooling EAS procedures.
