Retailers are doing "more with less" in 2010

Retailers are buoyed by recent sales growth and signs consumers are coming back, but the optimism is tempered with caution as they begin planning holiday-season inventories. The recession forced merchants to adapt to changing conditions more quickly, attributes reflected in the NRF's Eighth Annual Retail Horizons report. "One of the overriding themes of the survey is that retailers are striving to do more with less," said Mark Larson, global head of retail at KPMG, which worked with the NRF on the survey.
