Rep. Towns reportedly won't run for re-election

Democratic New York Congressman Ed Towns, 77, who was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1982, has decided not to run for re-election, Democratic Party sources said. His departure leaves the race to New York Councilman Charles Barron, who challenged Towns in a hard-fought campaign in 2006, and New York state Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries.
