Stress at home may raise obesity risk among preschool girls

Researchers looked at records from the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study and found that girls who experienced at least one stressor in their homes had a higher risk of being obese by age 5 than peers in more stable homes. The connection was not seen in boys, who researchers said may respond to stress by being more physically active. The findings appear in the journal Pediatrics.
