Study: Spinal injections don't provide chronic pain relief

A study showed that adult sciatica patients who received two spinal injections of arthritis drug etanercept over two weeks reported no significant improvement in back and leg pain compared with their counterparts who got the same amount of steroids or saline as treatment. Researcher Dr. Steven Cohen said the findings were "disappointing" considering the cost of etanercept and steroids used for pain relief.
