Ala. students spend a day exploring other cultures

Students at Calera Elementary School recently visited Egypt, China, Italy, Germany and other nations -- all without leaving their Alabama school. Calera's multicultural fair involved the entire school, but some students, parents and faculty members got into the spirit by dressing in costumes and sharing food, dance and other customs from some of the 20 nations represented. "This program is not only educational, but it's completely inter-curricular. History, science, math, geography have all been used throughout our study," said educator Deborah Maulden.
