Coca-Cola returns to franchise-distribution model

Coca-Cola announced plans to sell its U.S. distribution operations back to independent companies after acquiring them less than three years ago in an effort to cut costs. The company reported it would work with U.S. franchises to deliver cans and bottles of soda to local restaurants, stores and vending machines, while Coca-Cola maintains control of the production process.
