Homeowners should think twice before fighting HOA

A homeowner who fought with his association for years writes that he's having a hard time selling his condo after the HOA slapped him with a $1,500 fine. Lawyer Tom Resnick responds that homeowners can pay a big price if they refuse to pay dues or ignore HOA fees. "[T]here is absolutely no future in battling with your association," Resnick writes. "They hold all the cards and, as you have now learned, not only will you usually end up paying the fines anyway, you often also earn the privilege of taking care of their attorneys, as well."
