Mass. high school screens freshmen interested in advanced math

To ensure students who are interested in taking advanced math are ready for the challenge, officials at a Massachusetts high school have decided to use a test to screen incoming freshmen who express an interest in taking Algebra II. Officials said they are taking this additional step because some ninth-graders who enroll in Algebra II struggle to pass the course, which can impede their future progress.
