Study: 40% readmission rate after ICU stay for alcohol withdrawal

Study data found 40% of patients discharged from the ICU and hospital after treatment for alcohol withdrawal symptoms were readmitted within one year, with those who had psychiatric conditions most likely to return. Researchers reported in Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research that readmission rates were similar to those for diseases such as congestive heart failure and asthma.
