A4A CEO: Sequester shouldn't wreak havoc on airline customers

Airlines for America is supporting the Essential Services Act of 2013, which would allow federal employees such as air-traffic controllers to be exempt from sequestration cuts. "There is absolutely no reason why sequestration cuts should wreak havoc for airline passengers and shippers, the very people who fund two-thirds of the FAA's budget," said Nicholas Calio, A4A president and CEO, in a statement. Calio praised Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., for his bipartisan bill, saying the act "will ensure the 2 million customers and 50,000 tons of cargo that fly every day are not negatively or punitively impacted by unnecessary cuts."
