Analysis: Digital divide could create an education divide

As more schools and teachers turn to the Internet as an educational tool, the need to address the digital divide is more critical than ever, commentators say. Danielle Kehl and Benjamin Lennett write that three-quarters of teachers say they use the Internet for some assignments, but a 2010 survey indicated that 22% of households lacked a broadband connection. "To take advantage of the wave of innovation in education, the nation's communication policies need to be updated to rectify the current limitations and inequities," Kehl and Lennett write.
