BNSF, KCS attract distribution firms to Kansas City area

BNSF and Kansas City Southern's intermodal capabilities in the Kansas City area are attracting distribution companies to locate in the region, which covers a wide area of Missouri and Kansas. BNSF's $250 million intermodal project in Edgerton, Kan., and its existing Argentine Yard in Kansas City, Kan., have already caught the attention of potential customers, while KCS service to a 370-acre intermodal facility in Missouri is attracting business prospects from the logistics sector, said KC SmartPort President Chris Gutierrez.
