Boomers contemplate retirement with a purpose

Boomers launching second careers often feel called to serve in a socially conscious way, says Ron Cordes, whose second career includes extensive work with a family foundation that works to end global poverty. The standard retirement of recreation and travel is good for "six or nine months," Cordes said. "But eventually you have to get on with life. It's almost impossible to look at that as a way of life for 30 years."
