Canadian teacher raises funds to build classroom kitchen

Special-education teacher Cassie Gallant raised funds to build a kitchen for students enrolled in her skills program at Beaumont Composite High School in Alberta, Canada. Students are assigned kitchen and other household tasks that involve baking muffins, washing dishes and folding towels. "It teaches them some of the most basic life skills that we all need to have some semblance of independence," Gallant said.
