Dental-plan enrollment rebounds as employers embrace coverage

Employers view dental benefits as a way to attract workers and embrace a total-health approach, though many companies have also shifted costs to employees, according to consulting firm Mercer. Enrollment in dental plans has picked up after dropping during the recession amid high unemployment, and NADP Executive Director Evelyn Ireland expects the trend to continue. "It's typical for there to be 20 to 30 carriers in a particular state, so there is a lot of competition," Ireland said.
