Electrical engineers saw spike in jobless rate in Q1

The unemployment rate among electrical engineers increased to 6.5% in the first quarter as the sector lost 40,000 jobs, according to an analysis of government data by IEEE-USA. The jobless rate for electrical engineers was 3.4% in 2010 and 2011. "Seasonal fluctuations are normal, but the first quarter unemployment spike is alarming," IEEE-USA's Keith Grzelak said in a statement.
