Gaming app-makers spend heavily to build buzz

Gaming application-makers are spending significant sums to promote apps that would once have been released with little or no marketing activity. Top app publishers spend about $5 million on mobile marketing for a new release, a tenfold increase since 2009, according to mobile-ad firm Velti, and some publishers are branching out into TV ads.
