Mandatory arbitration agreements are decried by SEC member

Clients of brokerages and advisers should not be forced to sign mandatory arbitration agreements that restrict their right to sue in court, Securities and Exchange Commission member Luis Aguilar says. "By providing investors with the ability to choose the forum in which to bring their legal claims and protect their legal rights, we enhance investor protection and add more teeth to our federal securities laws," he said.
