Mass. city council says nearby casino would hurt businesses

The Medford, Mass., City Council is pushing for Mayor Michael McGlynn to negotiate with the developer of a casino planned for a neighboring city, despite the council's thought that the casino would hurt Medford businesses. While the developer is required to reach agreements with "surrounding communities" before it can get a license from the state, councilors want McGlynn involved to ensure Medford receives mitigation awards.
