Mass. district to study absenteeism among students with disabilities

New Bedford Public Schools in Massachusetts is partnering with San Francisco-based nonprofit Attendance Works and George Washington University to determine why students with disabilities in the school district are more likely to miss school than their peers. "Because there are so many types of disabilities and challenges, there are vastly different reasons for the attendance patterns. We're really entering new ground with the district in trying to understand this," Attendance Works' associate director, Cecelia Leong, said.
