Oil majors urge shareholders to reject drilling disclosure plans

Shareholders should reject proposals that would require ExxonMobil and Chevron to supply detailed information about their hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling activities, the companies said, arguing such plans are needless. "Through ExxonMobil's annual Corporate Citizenship Report (CCR) and other means, the company is already discussing the risks and rewards of shale extraction," Exxon said. Chevron has "well-developed risk management systems" for the drilling techniques, the company said.
