Report: Policy uncertainty may blunt global wind power recovery

The number of wind turbine installations worldwide is expected to decline this year by more than 11%, to just below 40 gigawatts, after reaching a record in 2012, according to a report by the Global Wind Energy Council. The sector may see a recovery in 2014, but policy uncertainty and other factors could limit investments, the report showed. "Wind power may be variable, but the greatest threat to the continued stable growth of the industry is the variability and unpredictability of the politicians who set the frameworks for the energy sector," said Steve Sawyer, the council's secretary general.
