Business conditions in the semiconductor industry are improving after two years of lackluster growth, writes Jim Handy of Objective Analysis. Chipmakers are spending more on capital improvements this year, catching up on the lack of capital expenditures since 2011 and leading to a potential shortage of components for the next two years, he notes.
