Researchers tout highly efficient polymer-based photovoltaic cells

Scientists from Wake Forest University have created a device that uses polymer-based solar cells to gather power from the sun's light and heat. Visible sunlight is converted to electricity through a tubing component with a spray-on polymer photovoltaic, which allows the system to bring as much as 40% in cost savings. The thermal system is "ultra-efficient in home heating and cooling," said David Carroll, director of nanotechnology and molecular materials at Wake Forest.
