Wind power is good for Maine's environment, economy, energy security

Harnessing Maine's wind resources is "a step in the right direction" for the state, according to Alison Hagerstrom, executive director of Greater Franklin Development Corp. Wind projects spur activities that contribute to the state's economy, bring jobs and invigorate small businesses and other industries, Hagerstrom writes. "Maine people support wind power for very basic reasons: It supports environmental and economic health and makes us more self-reliant in our energy use," Hagerstrom adds.
