$4B Tappan Zee Bridge project seen as economic stimulus for N.Y.

The approximately $4 billion project to build a new Tappan Zee Bridge in New York is expected to create tens of thousands of jobs and benefit businesses in the Hudson Valley, according to New York State Thruway Executive Director Thomas Madison, Jr. "[T]he bridge itself has an enormous and favorable impact on the entire New York State economy," Madison said. Meanwhile, final permits are expected to be approved within days and dredging will start in August.
